Candle scents, there are so many to choose from!
By admin | November 6, 2007
In this article I explain everything about candle scents. If you have some candle scent related questions you will most likely find them here!
Most candle scents are liquid and extremely concentrated. They can burn your skin and irritate your eyes. Be very careful when handling them. It is strongly recommended that you wear eye protection and gloves when using candle scents.
Not all scents are created equally either. Some suppliers cut or water down their scents, which can result in a weak smelling candle. Keep that in mind when shopping for your candle scents. A low priced scent doesn’t always mean a better choice!
Overexposure to your candle scents can leave you with a weak nose. This simply means that you become used to the powerful scents and can have a difficult time smelling the scents in the final product. Your brain stops processing that familiar odor. For example: Have you ever visited a friend or loved ones house and when you first walk in the door, you notice their house has a particular smell. It might be good or bad and they don’t seem to notice. That’s because they live there and smell it everyday so it isn’t foreign to them. The same goes for candle scents.
It is always best to test your candles with a relative or close friend who isn’t constantly exposed to these scents. They will have a clean nose and be able to tell you if the scent throw in your candle is good.
Candle scents are extremely fun to experiment with. It is by far the most interesting part of candle making. There are so many scent types that it really boggles the mind. It can get really fun and addicting to combine scents and come up with your own fresh scent ideas. You can become a mad scientist mixing this scent with that until you achieve an amazing scent combo.
