Making the Jack - O - Lantern candle part 3
By admin | November 7, 2007
The final steps in creating the Jack - O - Lantern candle.
Now we have to clean out pour pot. While the wax is still hot in the pour pot, pour whatever is left into a separate mold. (Separate pour pots can be used)We just want to make room for our other wax. Wipe the inside of the pour pot clean with a paper towel. It can be hot so don’t burn yourself
Step 8. Wicking the candle
When the wax you poured in step 7 has cooled but is still soft, dip the bottom of the wick pin into some melted wax.
This will help the pre-tabbed wick stick to the bottom of the candle.
Step 9. Melting our wax for the center
Now it’s time to melt the wax that we prepared in step 1.
We need to melt the wax for the inside of the candle. It has a suggested pour temp of 150 degrees Once it has reached this temperature we turn off the double boiler and move on to the next step.
Step 10. Adding candle scent
For the center of the candle we used 5 ounces of wax. Using our formula of one ounce per pound. See how to figure out how much scent per wax to figure this out.
This formula shows .3 ounces of scent is needed. I am going to use .5 ounces. Why am I doing this when I warned against it? This mixture is going into our wax shell, if there is any scent that seeps out of this mixture it will be absorbed by our outer shell! Measure out half an ounce of scent and add it directly to our melted wax and stir it in with our wooden skewer until it is evenly distributed.
Step 11. Pouring our center
Now that we have added our scent we are ready to pour. Simply pour the mixture into our shell and let the hard part begin… Waiting!

Step 12. Light and Enjoy!

Remember there are quite a few ways to achieve these results. Use your imagination and have fun with your new hobby and before you know it, your hobby might become a very profitable business.
