Making the scented snowman part 3

By admin | November 8, 2007

We continue creating our scented snowman in part 3.

Step 6. Creating the outside candle texture

The idea behind this is to create a snow like texture with the wax. This is very easy to achieve. We will use the same technique that we used for creating our grubby candle.

Now that our wax is melted we have to wait for it to form a skin on the surface. When it does we will whip the wax using our spatula. This will give it the snow effect. Just simply stir the wax like beating an egg but be careful not to burn yourself as it is still very hot.

This is where I add my glitter. If you add the glitter before you start to whip the wax it will settle in clumps on the bottom of the pan.

Once the wax has achieved an oatmeal like texture it’s time to apply it to our snowman body.

Using the spatula scoop out the wax and apply it to the body as if you were icing a cake.

Adding the snow

Keep doing this until the entire surface of the snowman is completely covered and to your liking

Step 7. Creating the nose

Using some of the wax that has fallen to the table, I sculpt a little nose for our snowman.

This should be done while the wax is still warm and soft. Push the nose onto the snowman’s face.
